Expertise

Gary Gordon LLC, the award-winning lighting design firm, is acknowledged as expert in the integration of light and architecture. Since 1985, we have provided innovative solutions for more than 1,000 corporate, institutional, residential, and retail projects.

Clients value our close collaboration with them and our careful and accurate attention to detail. Success results from our sophisticated use of light, strong understanding of space, and thorough knowledge of the newest light sources andsystems. Integration of the lighting design with the architectural concept— and of the lighting equipment with the architecture — is paramount. For each project, a cost-effective, energy-conscious, and flexible design builds upon and enhances the client’s original concept.

Our process is thorough, ensuring that lighting details are resolved in
our office, not on the job-site. All conditions unique to each project are mocked-up full-size in our studio; photometric calculations are constructed for every space. Precise detail drawings and AutoCAD contract documents accompany written and drawn luminaire
specifications to clarify design intent for the installing contractor.

To be successful, lighting design integrates the lighting concept with the architectural one, and it integrates the technology that produces light with the mechanical and structural systems that comprise the building. Our objective is to use modern lighting techniques in a manner sympathetic to, and expressive of, the spirit of the architectural concept.

Gary Gordon LLC’s philosophy is based on the conviction that the
lighting condition of a space has enormous emotional impact on people. Our guiding principle: what is important is not what makes the light, but which objects and surfaces receive it. In our completed spaces, you are not aware of the mechanics of light production — only of a comfortable environment that encourages productivity and enhances well–being. Gary Gordon LLC is, therefore, ultimately concerned with not only the quality of light, but the quality of life.
